Thank you, Regina, for having me on your blog today. Very happy to be here! I’ve enjoyed the 2010 Goodie Tour, and I’m really excited to share today’s recipe because it’s so unique. I know I’ve never had anything like it.
My children love the holidays when I pull out the maple flavoring and mix up a dish of maple sugar. Better than cookies, these maple-flavored biscuits will make your home smell as delicious as they taste. Melt some butter over the top and dunk, dunk, dunk! I highly recommend this comforting, yummy recipe.
1 cup of sour cream
¾ cup of sugar plus ¼ teaspoon of Maple flavored extract (blend)
¼ teaspoon of allspice
2 ¼ cups of all purpose flour
¾ teaspoon of baking soda
1/8 teaspoon of salt
Preheat oven to 375. Grease a cookie sheet. Combine sour cream, egg, sugar, and allspice. Separately stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the flour mix to the sour cream mixture. Stir until just combined. Turn out and knead about ten strokes. Pat to one half inch thickness. Cut out biscuits with a round cutter. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm with butter. Yield: 12-14
NOTE: Maple flavoring is a great ingredient to keep in your pantry. You can make your own maple syrup for pancakes and waffles, just by adding to boiling water and sugar.
I know you’ll love these sensational biscuits with your morning cocoa or coffee. If you grab one and curl up with a book, I hope you’ll consider settling in with one of mine. This month is the release of my first Regency era romance, JOSETTE, available now in both print and ebook editions. Here’s a little idea of what you’re in for:
Josette Price sees her future in Beddingfield Park, while her brother, George, needlessly pursues a naval career. But dark, brooding Captain Carter rides into their lives with news that ruins everything: George has been lost at sea. Only Captain Carter and his delightfully spinsterish relatives can stop the Price sisters from making a choice that would be the greatest tragedy of all.
